When I was in Mexico I had the great fortune to sit next to a lovely woman, Yumi Mutoh, from Japan. Yumi hand makes bobbin lace, and below is a photo she sent me of a piece she recently made. Isn't it absolutely stunning? People always ask us beaders how we have the patience to bead, well, I think that what Yumi does takes far more patience and skill than anything I have ever done. She will be entering this piece in an exhibition this spring. I look forward to seeing more of her work.

Amazing! That's all. Just Amazing.
Making the lace is fun and not overly difficult. Making the design is the hard part. I would think any beader would enjoy making lace too - you can even add beads to it. I haven't made any in years and am really a beginner but I can tell you it is worth learning.
My brother's mil makes lace and I was intrigued with the process and the beauty of the lace she creates. She made a baptismal gown. You couldn't put a price on something like that.
